ANN PATTERSON

A chartered professional accountant and certified general accountant, Ann Patterson has more than 35 years of experience in the field of financial management. She is particularly proud of her designations, as they were the culmination of years of hard work and propelled her to new heights in her career. On the road to excellence, she also earned Bachelor of Arts in commerce and economics from the University of Toronto Scarborough, with honors, in 1979.

Throughout her professional journey, Ms. Patterson has held several important positions in her field. She was an accountant for the Association of Adult and Continuing Education School Board Administrators and a staff accountant at the Kohai Education Centre from 2013 to 2014, the accounting manager at WoodGreen Community Services from 2003 to 2012, and an intermediate accountant at the YMCA Canada from 2001 to 2003. She also worked part-time with Statistics Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays.

Ms. Patterson’s responsibilities throughout her career have included overseeing accounting functions like financial reporting mechanisms, policies and processes, and examining financial records and transactions. She is highly skilled at ensuring that employees adhere to industry standards, corporate rules and regulatory requirements, as well as to accounting standards and procedures. Additionally, she recommends improvements to accounting systems and management practices, develops and maintains cost findings, and reports on internal control procedures.

Keeping up with developments in her field, Ms. Patterson is a member of the Canadian Association of Women Executives and Entrepreneurs, the Canadian Federation of University Women, eWomen Network, and Financial Executives International Canada. In addition, Ms. Patterson is secretary to the board of directors of Times Change Women’s Employment Service, a non-profit organization in Toronto that assists women of all walks of life to find meaningful employment in their chosen careers.

In recognition of her accomplishments, Ms. Patterson received several prestigious honors. She was featured in Elite Women Worldwide, Top Female Executives, and Top 101 Industry Experts for her dedication, achievement, and leadership in accounting services, and was selected as a Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Finance in 2012. She attributes her success to her hard work and natural talent for numbers.

​When Ms. Patterson has spare time, she enjoys theater, baseball, and socializing with friends.
