COLETTE M. HERRIN

Colette M. Herrin has loved the Lord all of her life, and has completed intense studying and taught 18 years of Bible study. She had the opportunity to take all of her studies and turn it into credentials, and she is now a pastor. Through this post, she gets to preach and speak on what she loves, which she hopes will help others.

Ms. Herrin owns Warranty Enterprises LLC, a family business, where they are painting contractors that paint residential and commercial buildings inside and out; they will paint essentially anything. She is also the bookkeeper of the company and tries to do everything else that she can. Her son is the general manager, and he goes out and gets contracts, does the work, and hires and fires. However, Ms. Herrin considers herself the brains while he is the brawn.

Furthermore, Ms. Herrin was the creative consultant for Pfaff Sewing Machines for three and a half years, which meant that she traveled around the United States going to dealerships that sold machines. They would work up a promo for machines that they wanted to dump and would focus on that machine. She would put together a program for a two- to three-day class, and they would invite their customers while Ms. Herrin taught. To her, it was fun selling the sewing machines.

Prior to the start of her professional career, Ms. Herrin pursued a formal education at South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Washington, where she earned an Associate of Science in computer programming in 1984. She is also a certified Aflac insurance agent and Section 125 specialist, receiving the Triple Crowd Award in Sales from the former, and spent over three years in the U.S. Army. During her service, Ms. Herrin worked in the commanding general’s office and protocols portion. There, she was working with dignitaries in setting up their itinerary and making sure they got to the places that they needed to go. Her next assignment was going to be the Pentagon and White House protocol, but she was unable to go at the time.

Ms. Herrin went to college to become a CPA and took two accounting courses, but realized it was not for her. She was always intrigued by computers, so she decided to take a few computer classes and loved it. She attributes her success to her father, who had an impeccable work ethic and people skills. She had the best team in the country because she treats her team right. A former member of the Quilts of Valor Foundation, she volunteered to make quilts for falling soldiers and their families, and gave them to a spouse or loved one of a soldier. Today, Ms. Herrin is battling complications from an illness that has left her unable to walk. She hopes to be walking and driving again soon, and her personal motto is “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”

What separates Ms. Herrin from others is that she has an uncanny knack for knowing something and knowing if it will be good. She also knows if it will work for them, which she believes is a true talent; it just comes naturally to her. In addition, a lot of people tell Ms. Herrin that she is self-confident; it is in her voice and in her presentation, which is A1 from beginning to the end. She would like to be remembered by her peers as someone who was caring, giving and a kind person.
