Raised in an era where women were supposed to stay home and clean the house, Marillyn A. Brame, PhD, broke the mold. She started her career as a shipping clerk, after which she became a color consultant for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co., the owner of Signs by Marilyn and a design draftsman at Sandia Corp. Dr. Brame then moved on to positions like electro-mechanical designer for The Martin Co., the president of The Arts, the technical publications supervisor for the General Instrument Corp., the president of Camart Design and the technical publications manager at Archive Corp. During this time, she used her knowledge to consult for the Apple Corp., and ended up developing and documenting procedures for keyboard manufacturing for them.
Today, Dr. Brame continues her professional journey as the owner and president of the Visual Arts Studio & Art School in Mission Viejo, California. She is also a hypnotherapist through Visual Arts Hypnotherapy in Lake Forest, California. Her responsibilities there include helping people with things like pain and diet management, habit control, athletic performance, stress, anxiety and alien abduction.
To prepare for her endeavors, Dr. Brame completed coursework at the Meinzinger Art School, the University of New Mexico, Orlando Junior College and El Camino College. She later obtained a PhD in hypnotherapy from the American Institute of Hypnotherapy and became certified and registered in hypnotherapy. Additionally, she became involved with prominent organizations like the American Board of Hypnotherapy and the Society for Technical Communication.
When Dr. Brame has spare time, she enjoys community theater, learning about metaphysics, collecting rocks and folk dancing. She even wrote a book, “Folk Dancing is for Everybody,” on the subject. Dr. Brame also fosters her passion for the arts as the chair of the City of Mission Viejo Cultural Arts Committee and a member of the City of Mission Viejo Activity Committee. To help her expand her reach, she authored “Innovative Imagery” and “Basic Production Concepts for the Working and Beginning Artist.”
As a testament to her hard work and dedication, Dr. Brame was included on the City of Mission Viejo’s Wall of Recognition for her community service in 2016. Furthermore, her achievements were featured in publications like Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in the West and Who’s Who of American Women.
