Jennifer Ingmire

Backed by expertise in engineering, Jennifer J. Ingmire has thrived at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), a subsidiary of the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR). She joined NAVAIR as an aerospace engineer at the NAVAL Aviation Depot in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1995. She transferred to the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division in 2001 as a human systems engineer. In 2003, she moved to NAWCAD Patuxent River as a mechanical engineer, where she advanced in her career to an Assistant Program Manager for Systems Engineering (APMSE). Over the years, Ms. Ingmire has worked on a wide range of programs and projects for the organization, but one that really stands out to her is the International Instruction for Air-to-Air Refueling (ATP-56). She was part of a great team comprised of experts from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force, as well as various international partners.

To share her incredible background and wealth of knowledge, Ms. Ingmire has contributed to publications like “Ports and Windows on Manned Spacecraft and on Lunar and Planetary Habitation Modules” and “Space Debris:  An Engineering Solution with an Autonomous Space Robot.” She also co-authored “Teaching in Space,” “Optical Port Experiments,” and “External Servicing Rack for Space Modules,” alongside Robert D. Mercer and her husband, Gordon D. Ingmire.

While attending the University of Arizona, Ms. Ingmire prepared for her endeavors by garnering hands-on experience as a research assistant for the NASA jet propulsion laboratory and a teaching assistant in the Machine Shop. She graduated in 1992, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and subsequently completed her Master of Mechanical Engineering in 1995.

When Ms. Ingmire has free time, she enjoys photography, scrapbooking, and participating in mini triathlons and Warrior Dashes. She has also been a troop leader for the Girl Scouts of the United States of America since 1994, a volunteer for the Special Olympics since 1984 and area representative for Youth for Understanding USA since 2005. She coached the Southern Maryland Paralympic track and field team from 2012 through 2017 and has coached for the Special Olympics in skiing and track and field since 2013. In 2018, she became a board member of Bay Community Support Services.
