Drawing on an extensive background in journalism and artificial intelligence (AI), Sonia Talati founded Heirlooms Inc. in 2026 and currently serves as the company’s chief executive officer. Under development for more than a year and a half, this organization aims to help families preserve and share their stories, values and insights across generations. Ms. Talati’s vision for Heirlooms Inc. is rooted in her experience reporting on affluent families for Barron’s Penta magazine, where she observed the challenges parents face in passing down lessons and family history to their children. Though working with AI technology, her approach emphasizes authenticity, ensuring that the human spirit is preserved.
Before founding Heirlooms Inc., Ms. Talati held the position of senior leader in conversational AI at GoDaddy, honing her leadership and expertise in AI. Her tenure at GoDaddy was preceded by roles as senior conversation designer and user experience content writer for Geico and senior content designer and content and communications lead for Anthem Inc.
In 2018, Ms. Talati co-founded her first company, Hereafter, an early venture into leveraging artificial intelligence for legacy preservation that laid the groundwork for Heirlooms Inc. While this endeavor gained significant attention — including appearing on the front page of the Washington Post — the market was not yet ready for this technological advancement. Ms. Talati’s earlier career includes work as a columnist and digital branding and communications lead at Barron’s; multimedia journalist, researcher, and digital branding and content creator at The Wall Street Journal; digital project manager at McClatchy Media; journalist and producer at Chamber Productions; and journalist and TV anchor at KTTC TV. Her professional journey began in 2010 as an executive producer and TV host for “Eyes of the World: Looking Beyond,” a program on Napa Valley TV.
Ms. Talati’s career trajectory has been supported by a strong academic foundation. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in mass communications and economics from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2009. Subsequently, Ms. Talati earned a Master of Arts in business journalism from Columbia University in 2013. Her analytical abilities and storytelling acumen have been further backed up by her active membership in several groups, including the Asian American Journalists Association, the South Asian Journalists Association, the New York Financial Writers Association and Kappa Delta.
Recognized for her thought leadership in AI ethics and innovation, Ms. Talati was featured in a 2021 Emmy Award-winning documentary from The Wall Street Journal about preserving legacy, an experience she considers one of her proudest accomplishments. She has delivered keynote addresses at such events as the European Chatbot & Conversational AI Summit, the RE•WORK Conversational AI Summit and the Virtual Worlds Summit. Ms. Talati attributes her success to her ability to clearly visualize goals and execute them with focus and discipline — a mindset instilled by her parents, who immigrated to the United States from India and emphasized discipline, effort and striving for excellence.
Committed to optimism, education and high energy in every endeavor, Ms. Talati established herself as a visionary in the field. She looks forward to leading Heirlooms Inc. to new heights, with aspirations of building it into a prominent organization serving millions of families in preserving their legacies through technology.
