As an AI consultant and the founder of Monic AI Systems, Monica Tomasso has established herself as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) strategy, automation and digital product innovation. Operating her company since 2025, she has guided growth-stage businesses through the practical, ethical and profitable integration of AI. Ms. Tomasso’s expertise encompasses selling dynamic AI technology and customized sales playbooks, engaging clients with data-backed products, positioning organizations strategically through workflow integration and developing proposal automation. She also assists clients in creating competitive proposals using proven data and market intelligence.

Before launching Monic AI Systems, Ms. Tomasso was the global product manager lead at BP p.l.c., where she led digital and product initiatives during a period of significant organizational transformation. She previously contributed as a senior strategy consultant for software products, strategy and data at NTT DATA Group Corporation, partnering with Kantar and major consumer packaged goods brands on trade promotion management and data-driven commercialization strategies, further honing her skills in product development and technology strategy. She spent several years working for the Washington, D.C., government, focusing on vendor management for grocery software products, data insights and strategy. In this position, she was pivotal to supporting critical access to the D.C. Health Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) — a professionally and personally meaningful experience.

After beginning her career at Mobil Oil in 1994, Ms. Tomasso had two significant tenures with Exxon Mobil Corporation. She first joined the company in 2000, specializing in data strategy, category management and promotions, and later returned as a senior consultant for loyalty and growth strategy in 2013. Between those periods, Ms. Tomasso spent seven years running Health e-Lunch Kids Inc., her first entrepreneurial experience. She considers her decision to leave a senior role at Exxon Mobil and launch her own company in 2005 to be a defining milestone in her professional journey.

Alongside the creation of Health e-Lunch Kids Inc., Ms. Tomasso was heavily involved with 1776, a notable D.C.-area start-up incubator, where she offered insight into go-to-market strategies and digital products for emerging companies. She supported multiple entrepreneurial and media ventures, including Kovu TV and Corner Media.

Ms. Tomasso’s performance in the field was influenced by her academic background, beginning with a Bachelor of Science in computer information systems from American University. She then obtained a Master of Science in management information systems technology from The George Washington University. Subsequently, Ms. Tomasso earned a Master of Business Administration from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School. She further solidified her credentials with a course in Python for managers through Columbia University’s Columbia Business School and certification in data science orientation and querying with Transact-SQL through edX LLC.

Throughout her career, Ms. Tomasso has received numerous accolades, including the Count Me In Award for her Health e-Lunch Kids business concept in 2006. She was named Entrepreneur of the Year for Outstanding Business Leadership by the SMB Association and won an American Express-sponsored competition. Ms. Tomasso has been featured as part of the “Make Mine a Million” event and has appeared as a guest on “The Rachael Ray Show” and various local news segments with Eun Yang airing on NBC affiliates. She was showcased in USA Today for e-commerce innovations and in Inc. Magazine for her work with Health e-Lunch Kids.

Shaped by both professional achievements and personal challenges that have strengthened her resolve, Ms. Tomasso attributes her success to resilience, adaptability and a lifelong commitment to learning. Her interest in technology began in high school when she was first introduced to computers; this early fascination inspired her drive to bridge technology with business outcomes.

Outside of her career, Ms. Tomasso is a devoted wife and a loving mother to one son. In her free time, she enjoys playing basketball and soccer with her family, cooking, gardening, traveling, and reading. Ms. Tomasso has also been civically engaged as an advocate for ALS since 2016 and as a regular volunteer at schools. She is dedicated to efforts that positively impact her community.

Looking ahead, Ms. Tomasso aims to scale Monic AI Systems into a leading consultancy serving growing businesses by helping organizations adapt to AI internally. She plans to utilize her expertise to aid companies in becoming discoverable, trusted and recommended across major AI-powered platforms such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Ms. Tomasso hopes to show clients how to integrate AI into their business in ways that are realistic and ethical while driving revenue growth. She is uniquely positioned to succeed in this area thanks to her expertise in automation, data analytics, product development and workflow design, and her experience in translating emerging technology into innovative business solutions.
