For more than 15 years, Lorrain Wilson Chien has earned a stellar reputation in business management and entrepreneurship, complemented by her commitment to community service and innovation. As part of a treasured and vital legacy, she became involved in her family’s enterprise from its inception in March 1961, when Ms. Chien was only 15 years old. Her father founded Wilson Service Station after facing challenges securing fuel for his farm machinery, quickly turning it into a vital resource for the local community.

Upon the passing of her parents in 2011, Ms. Chien assumed ownership of Wilson Service Station. She made the strategic decision to offer gasoline around the clock, further cementing the station’s role as an essential service provider in the area. Since then, Ms. Chien has played a pivotal role in ensuring that residents of the small farming town have access to gasoline and other goods and services necessary for their agricultural and personal needs. This achievement stands as her most notable professional accomplishment, reflecting her dedication to supporting her community and allowing her to foster meaningful connections with customers, particularly early-morning farmers who rely on her services.

In addition to her responsibilities at Wilson Service Station, Ms. Chien is the business manager at Noveratech LLC, where she is preparing to launch a new venture focused on biotechnology. Noveratech is developing innovative products designed to promote wound healing, including solutions that can form a scab and significantly reduce recovery time. These advancements are poised to make a substantial impact in the field of health care, aligning with Ms. Chien’s belief in the foundational importance of wellness.

Ms. Chien’s educational background has been instrumental in shaping her approach to leadership and business operations. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Kentucky in 1964. Ms. Chien returned to the same institution in 1973 to earn a master’s degree in administration and supervision. Her academic training provided her with organizational skills and an appreciation for discipline and persistence — qualities that have underpinned her professional success.

Ms. Chien attributes her achievements to fortitude and persistence, emphasizing that success often emerges through continual effort and adaptability. Her journey exemplifies how determination and a focus on community can drive personal fulfillment and professional distinction.

Among other contributions, she has served as the past president of the University of Kentucky Woman’s Club. On a personal note, Ms. Chien was born in Pulaski County, Indiana, and is married to Sufan Chien, a professor and researcher. Together they have two adult children: Lynn, an emergency room doctor, and Sam, a researcher. When she’s not busy with her professional responsibilities, Ms. Chien enjoys expressing her lifelong appreciation for music by playing the piano and attending concerts.
