A career in film and television production demands creativity, precision, and resilience, qualities that define the work of line producer Melissa Llewellyn-Alston. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, and raised in Bloomfield, she grew up in a community that nurtured her appreciation for the arts and inspired her to pursue a career in creative industries. Over the years, she has developed a reputation for guiding projects from concept to completion with an approach that balances artistry with practical execution. Her career reflects a versatile portfolio that spans multiple formats and genres while remaining grounded in a commitment to producing content that resonates with audiences and elevates underrepresented voices.

Ms. Llewellyn-Alston’s academic background laid a strong foundation for her professional achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida, where she studied dance, and later pursued coursework in producing, cinematography and film and video production at UCLA Extension in Los Angeles. She also obtained OSHA 30 certification from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, underscoring her commitment to safety and compliance on set. This combination of artistic training, technical education and professional certifications equipped her with the skills to transition seamlessly from performing on stage to managing productions behind the camera.

As a freelance line producer, Ms. Llewellyn-Alston has overseen projects from inception through delivery, handling script analysis, scheduling, budgeting, pre-production logistics, deal negotiations and contract management. Her ability to align creative goals with financial realities has made her a trusted partner to networks and producers. She has demonstrated adaptability by working across independent films, shorts, commercials and music videos, consistently delivering results in an industry where flexibility and innovation are essential to success.

Ms. Llewellyn-Alston’s leadership has also been evident at WHITEiNK Productions, where she has been responsible for script breakdowns, budget approvals and all aspects of pre-production. At AMC Networks Inc., she contributed her expertise to major television projects that required coordination across large teams and complex schedules. Beyond entertainment, she applied her organizational and management skills at Sweet Path Properties, supporting property development projects with the same attention to detail and efficiency that defines her film and television work.

Among her many accomplishments, one of the most notable is producing all three seasons of “Wicked City,” a supernatural drama with an all-female cast that streams on ANC. This project reflects her dedication to championing diverse voices while producing compelling content, solidifying her reputation as a professional who values both representation and quality storytelling.

Ms. Llewellyn-Alston’s path into the profession began in performance. After completing her fine arts degree, she toured internationally as a dancer with the National Dance Theater Company of Jamaica, contributing choreography and costume design to music videos. Encouraged by a director who recognized her organizational strengths, she transitioned behind the camera and helped establish a boutique production house and advertising agency in Jamaica. After relocating to Los Angeles, she built her career from the ground up without industry connections, working as a freelance music video producer for companies such as Rivington, London Alley, Rock Hard and DNA before shifting her focus to scripted television and feature films.

Ms. Llewellyn-Alston credits her success to persistence, trustworthiness, and financial discipline, qualities that have carried her through an evolving industry and established her as a reliable partner for producers and networks. Looking ahead, she plans to expand her production company into a medium-sized enterprise capable of producing and distributing original content for streaming platforms and television networks. Her vision is to create a company that manages its own material while consistently delivering high-quality productions across multiple channels.
