Lisa A. Edwards, President, has built a meaningful and multifaceted career rooted in service, compassion and dedication to the well-being of seniors. As the president and owner of Central Care Services LLC in the Washington, DC–Baltimore region, she leads a non-medical home care agency that provides personalized support to individuals who require assistance with daily living. Through personal care, companionship and transportation services, her team helps clients maintain independence and dignity in their own homes. Her motivation for launching the agency came from the deeply personal role she played in caring for her own grandparents, both of whom remained in their homes into their nineties because of the support she was able to provide.

Ms. Edwards’ academic background has played a key role in shaping her approach to leadership and service. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in health services administration from Strayer University after completing an Associate of Arts in business administration from the same institution. She later added to her qualifications by obtaining a life coach certificate with a specialization as an end-of-life doula. These educational achievements have supported her efforts to blend business acumen with empathetic care, helping her meet the diverse needs of aging populations with both professionalism and heart.

Before launching her own company, Ms. Edwards developed a broad foundation of experience across various roles in health care and senior services. She worked as a supervisor at Home Instead Senior Care in Silver Hill, Maryland, gaining valuable insight into team management and quality assurance in elder care. She also held a position with Anesthesia Billing Consultants at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, refining her understanding of health care operations and administrative processes. Earlier in her career, she worked as a business development officer at Central Care Medical Supplies, focusing on medical equipment distribution for seniors, and began her professional journey as a medical associate at the Washington Center for Aging Services.

Beyond her leadership in the private sector, Ms. Edwards is also an author and an advocate for personal growth and community service. She contributed to the collaborative book “In Her Cure,” which is available on Amazon, and she has been a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars in recognition of her academic excellence. In 2019, she founded the Central Care Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations. Her volunteer work includes service with Food & Friends and LifeSTARTS Youth & Family Services, and she regularly donates to organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Purple Heart Foundation and lupus-related charities.

Ms. Edwards’ calling to caregiving began when she was just twelve years old, providing support to family members and aspiring to become a nurse. She began her career as a nursing assistant, developing a strong bond with the senior population. Although she later transitioned into medical equipment sales, she found the work lacked the personal connection she valued. This realization propelled her toward entrepreneurship, allowing her to have a more direct and lasting impact on the lives of others through compassionate, hands-on service.

Looking ahead, Ms. Edwards is focused on expanding Central Care Services and using her platform to educate the next generation on the importance of elder care. She remains committed to advancing quality of life for seniors by promoting family involvement and strengthening community support systems.
