Joan Sugerman

With a career that bridges the art of storytelling and the science of human transformation, Joan Sugerman has become a dynamic force in both filmmaking and executive coaching. As chief executive officer, founder and senior executive coach of Gemini Worldwide, she guides individuals and organizations through deep and lasting change. Her approach to transformational coaching is rooted in personal experience, having reshaped her own life by examining and redefining the relationships she holds with herself, her family and the world. This evolution has equipped her with an authentic voice and presence, allowing her to engage in the very process she invites others to explore. 

Ms. Sugerman’s academic path laid the foundation for her creative and philosophical pursuits. She earned a Master of Fine Arts from Hunter College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from The Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and art history from Northwestern University. These degrees reflect a commitment to both intellectual rigor and artistic expression, preparing her to excel as both a filmmaker and transformational leader. 

In addition to her work at Gemini Worldwide, Ms. Sugerman leads Global Cinema, LLC as chief executive officer and movie producer. Her creative vision has given rise to a portfolio of impactful films, including “Road to Recovery,” “Years Ahead,” “Helping Hand,” “Thanks To You,” “Soulmates” and “Sleeping Beauty.” Each project explores meaningful themes that resonate with diverse audiences and often align with the personal transformation work she champions in her coaching practice. Her films have earned critical acclaim, including the Cine Golden Eagle Award for “Road to Recovery” and multiple honors from the Miami Film Festival. 

Ms. Sugerman has also been recognized for her contributions to media with a Gold Medal for “Helping Hand,” a Bronze Medal for “Thanks To You” and a Telly Award. These accolades highlight her ability to produce content that not only entertains but also inspires thought and change. Whether behind the camera or in a boardroom, she brings creativity, compassion and strategic insight to every endeavor. 

Ms. Sugerman’s commitment to service extends to philanthropy, where she contributes to organizations such as United Way. Through her support, she demonstrates a belief in collective impact and the importance of community uplift. Her civic engagement is one more way she applies her values beyond professional settings. 

Born in Baltimore, Ms. Sugerman remains closely connected to her roots and family. She finds balance and joy in activities such as skiing, bike riding, horseback riding, reading and watching films. Her two children are a central part of her life, and her love for storytelling continues to shape how she connects with the world. 

Ms. Sugerman envisions producing new films that address urgent social issues while deepening her work as a transformational consultant for global leaders. She aims to influence how power, purpose, and leadership are understood and exercised.
