As the founder of Nye Homegrown Learning LLC, she has created a private practice that reflects her belief in personalized care and educational support. Her journey into business ownership was born from a desire to expand beyond the limitations of contracted roles and inspired by the encouragement of her husband, whose confidence in her abilities helped catalyze the leap into entrepreneurship.
Ms. Nye’s academic background laid a strong foundation for her success. She earned a Bachelor of Science in communication sciences and disorders from West Virginia University and completed coursework toward a Master of Science in Education in speech-Language pathology at The College of Saint Rose. These programs sharpened her understanding of speech development, clinical practice and family-centered care, preparing her for the multifaceted demands of her profession.
Ms. Nye’s early career began with a third-party contractor, where she worked as a speech-language pathologist serving students in a contract school. This experience helped shape her approach to care, with a focus on informed consent and empowering parents to make confident, educated decisions for their children. She quickly became known for her advocacy in speech development and ethical practice, earning membership with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association in recognition of her professional standards and ongoing contributions.
Beyond her clinical work, Ms. Nye is a senior-level executive contributor to Brainz Magazine. Her published articles reflect her voice as both a practitioner and a thought leader, offering insights into communication challenges, parent education and the evolving landscape of therapeutic care. In acknowledgment of her impact, she was honored with the CREA Global Award from Brainz Magazine, which celebrates creativity and leadership in various professional fields.
Ms. Nye is also active in civic and community life. She supports the local Parent Teacher Association and contributes to area initiatives as a donor and volunteer. Her dedication to family and community extends into her personal life, where she embraces creativity and craftsmanship. Whether through wood burning, carving, gardening or walking with loved ones, she finds joy and balance in meaningful daily moments. Her love for do-it-yourself projects echoes the self-reliant and hands-on spirit that defines her approach to both life and business.
Looking to the future, Ms. Nye plans to broaden her reach by creating a community-centered space where individuals of all ages can connect with nature and each other. She also intends to teach a course in communication sciences and disorders at the University of Connecticut during the upcoming fall semester, sharing her practical experience with aspiring professionals. One of her long-term goals is to earn recognition on Connecticut’s 30 Under 30 list for entrepreneurs and educators, further reflecting her ambition to lead and inspire.
Ms. Nye’s path is one of perseverance, intention and growth. Her ability to navigate personal and professional challenges without reliance on external support reveals the strength that has defined her success.
