Carissa Ward

With a deep commitment to healing and transformation, Carissa Ward, RN, BSN has built a dynamic career that bridges the science of modern medicine with the wisdom of ancient energy practices. As a cath lab registered nurse and shamanic energetic practitioner at Being in Rightway, she brings together clinical expertise and holistic insight to support patients in profound and meaningful ways. Her integrative approach to care reflects not only professional experience but also a deeply personal devotion to fostering growth, wellness and connection in the lives of those she serves. 

Ms. Ward’s educational journey began with the completion of a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Washington State University. This academic foundation gave her the clinical training and critical thinking skills necessary to thrive in high-pressure health care environments. She later expanded her professional reach through certification as a shamanic energy medicine practitioner from Sacred Oak Academy. This combination of traditional nursing education and specialized energetic training has enabled her to serve her patients with both precision and compassion, embracing a model of care that honors body, mind and spirit. 

Before joining Being in Rightway, Ms. Ward was a registered nurse at PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview, Washington. There, she became known for her empathic bedside manner and her ability to navigate complex patient needs with grace and focus. Her time at the medical center strengthened her belief in the importance of individualized care and deepened her understanding of the emotional and psychological components of healing. 

Earlier in her career, Ms. Ward spent more than a decade at UW Medical Center – Northwest. This formative period gave her exposure to a wide range of clinical experiences, from high-intensity acute care to collaborative team environments. Her natural energy, adaptability and commitment to excellence allowed her to excel in diverse roles. The mentorship she received during this time shaped her perspective on patient advocacy and professionalism, while challenges she faced helped her cultivate resilience and empathy. 

Ms. Ward often credits her personal life as a central source of strength and inspiration. Her husband Michael, known as Mickey, and their children Lyla, Theodore, Scarlett, Theodore and Henry have offered encouragement and joy throughout her journey. The support of her family has allowed her to pursue ambitious goals while remaining grounded in the values that matter most to her. 

In acknowledgment of her extraordinary contributions to patient care, Ms. Ward has received the Daisy Award, a symbol of her compassion and commitment to nursing. As a member of the Washington State Nurses Association, she maintains active involvement in the professional community and continues to seek opportunities for learning and growth. 

Beyond her professional life, Ms. Ward enjoys cooking, skiing and spending meaningful time with her family. These personal interests help her maintain balance and renew her sense of purpose. Looking ahead, she plans to deepen public understanding of shamanic energetic practices and advocate for their integration within mainstream health care settings. She aspires to leave a legacy of kindness, authenticity and honest communication.
