As director of development, alumni relations and business office affairs at Lawrence Woodmere Academy, she has played a central role in preserving the legacy and operations of one of the region’s most historic educational institutions. Her efforts to secure emergency financing within a four-month window were vital to maintaining uninterrupted education for students and providing stability for faculty and families. The successful outcome of her work highlighted her capacity to navigate complex challenges with determination and grace. 

Ms. Kalyan’s academic foundation in finance and economics has underpinned her success across multiple industries. She holds a Master of Business Administration in finance from Long Island University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Barnard College. These academic achievements reflect her commitment to rigorous scholarship and prepared her for the analytical demands of high-stakes roles in banking and institutional leadership. Her ability to translate theoretical knowledge into practical, effective strategies has remained a constant theme throughout her professional journey. 

Before joining Lawrence Woodmere Academy, Ms. Kalyan spent more than a decade at Capital One, where she held a series of increasingly complex positions. She began as a bank teller, developing core competencies in customer service and financial transactions. Her strong interpersonal skills and results-oriented mindset quickly led to a position as a relationship banker in New York City. In this role, she provided personalized financial solutions and cultivated client relationships grounded in trust and transparency. 

Ms. Kalyan’s trajectory at Capital One continued as she became a senior sales support specialist for business banking. Her contributions in that position helped refine sales processes and deliver operational improvements. She was promoted to national sales support manager for business banking, where she led cross-functional initiatives that strengthened business development on a national scale. As lead project manager of business banking operations, she directed complex operational projects that improved internal systems and elevated performance benchmarks. 

Long before entering the financial sector, Ms. Kalyan helped manage her family’s restaurant business. She oversaw staff hiring, menu design and daily operations. This early exposure to entrepreneurship and customer engagement gave her practical leadership experience and laid the groundwork for her work in project management and strategic planning. 

Beyond her professional roles, Ms. Kalyan is deeply engaged in civic life. She supports the Local Mandir and participates in events organized by the Natraj Center for the Performing Arts. Her involvement in cultural programming at Lawrence Woodmere Academy, including contributions to events like “Lawrence Woodmere Academy celebrates cultural diversity on heritage day,” demonstrates her commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness. 

Ms. Kalyan is also a devoted mother who shares her passion for the arts with her two daughters through the Natraj Center for the Performing Arts. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a doctoral degree in educational leadership. Her vision is to continue strengthening the foundation of Lawrence Woodmere Academy while expanding her influence as a leader in education and community development.
