
Britta Jones is an accomplished professional in geospatial science, data analytics, and artificial intelligence/machine learning, particularly within the security and intelligence sectors. She is the director of technology at Colvin Run Networks Inc. in Virginia, where, since 2023, she has managed the company’s technological framework, overseeing fleet architects, developers, and various projects. Mrs. Jones ensures all deliverables are met while managing technology, security, and compliance.
Mrs. Jones’s career began as a geographic information systems technician at the Conservation Management Institute at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2013. She advanced to geographic information systems analyst at Michael Baker International in 2014 before joining Chester Engineers Inc. in the same role later that year. From 2015 to 2017, Mrs. Jones served as a geospatial web developer at ICF International Inc., where she honed her skills in web-based geospatial applications. In 2017, she became a Tableau subject matter expert for the U.S. Department of Defense and Washington Headquarters Services with Concept Plus LLC.
In 2018, Ms. Jones joined SAIC’s Center of Excellence as a tableau team lead and senior data scientist. She then transitioned to CACI International Inc., where she held roles as a senior metrics and analytics manager from 2019 to 2020 and a senior systems analyst from 2020 to 2022. In 2022, she began her journey with Colvin Run Networks Inc. as a solutions architect before assuming her current role as director of technology.
Mrs. Jones’s academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in geospatial science from Radford University, where she graduated cum laude in 2013, and a Masters of Professional Studies in geographic information technology concentrating in remote sensing from Northeastern University in 2015. She also holds a diploma from the college preparatory school Mercersburg Academy, which she obtained in 2010. Beyond her formal degrees, Mrs. Jones’ credentials include numerous certifications, such as in artificial intelligence and its implications for business strategy from the MIT Sloan School of Management and data science for business certification from Harvard Business School Online. Mrs. Jones is also a certified MicroStrategy architect and analyst.
Reflecting on her path, Mrs. Jones is particularly proud of her role as a mentor, especially as a woman in a predominantly male field. She recognized a significant lack of representation for young women, and having graduated early and faced unique challenges, she has made it her mission to support others in their professional journeys. Mrs. Jones is dedicated to mentoring those who have worked under her, providing them with valuable opportunities, and sharing her experience to help them advance in their careers.
Inspired by her mother’s strong work ethic and commitment to family, Mrs. Jones strives to emulate these qualities by fostering inclusivity within her industry. In her personal life, she enjoys spending time with her two daughters, listening to music, and singing.
Looking to the future, Mrs. Jones envisions continued growth for Colvin Run Networks Inc., having played an integral role in its expansion from a small team to about 20 employees. Her efforts have included obtaining facility clearances, laying the foundation for future partnerships, and client solution enhancements.
