Lauren L. Huntington, DDS, is the owner and lead dentist at Smile Studio Fair Haven in New Jersey. There, she combines general and light cosmetic dentistry expertise with a deep commitment to patient care. Dr. Huntington opened her practice in 2022 after years of experience as an associate dentist at various clinics, including Mason Dental Associates and Soho Smile. She brings a holistic approach to her work, managing everything from clinical responsibilities to business administration and ensuring smooth operations for her patients and her team.
Dr. Huntington earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry in 2016 after initially pursuing an associate degree in dental hygiene from NYU in 2011. Her academic journey began with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Lafayette College in 2009, and she further honed her dental skills during a residency at Hackensack University Medical Center. Licensed in New York and New Jersey, Dr. Huntington also holds certification from the American Academy of Facial Aesthetics to administer Botox and fillers, enhancing her skill set in restorative and aesthetic dental services.
Dr. Huntington’s introduction to dentistry started early, influenced by her father, a dental specialist, who encouraged her to assist him and his colleagues. Initially seeing it as only a summer job, her understanding of dentistry evolved as she worked with a general dentist. This experience shifted her perspective on the patient-centered nature of general practice. Inspired by a mentor who also transitioned from hygienist to dentist, she decided to pursue dentistry as a career during her junior year of college.
With more than a decade in the field, Dr. Huntington has cultivated a patient-first approach. Her focus on patient needs and outcomes over personal promotion creates a welcoming, supportive environment where patients feel comfortable discussing their dental concerns. This has allowed her to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients, particularly those who have faced challenging dental issues. For example, two of her recent patients, both women in their 50s who had lost their front teeth in traumatic falls, found new confidence after Dr. Huntington’s reconstructive work: one even moved to tears upon seeing her restored smile. Dr. Huntington recognizes the importance of focusing on her strengths and is selective about the procedures she offers, referring patients to specialists when it best serves their needs.
Dr. Huntington balances her professional life with active civic involvement, supporting organizations such as the Sandy Hook Foundation, the Visiting Nurses Association, and the School for Autism in New Jersey. She cherishes time with her family and enjoys practicing yoga and traveling. Excited about the future, she aims to expand Smile Studio Fair Haven by bringing in another dentist, ideally one looking to return to dentistry. She believes this will help her achieve a better work-life balance that aligns with her family goals. Dr. Huntington’s commitment to excellence in dentistry and passion for assisting others exemplify her dedication to her profession and community.
