Recognized amongst her peers as an expert in financial reporting and financial analysis, Irene Borum has thrived as the Chief Financial Officer of The Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority and as the president of Abacus CPA LLC. The former company works to promote health and support the care of health care needs of the Atlanta, Ga., community, and the latter provides full tax services. Ms. Borum was encouraged to enter the field by a professor, who saw her potential. Prior to her current positions, Ms. Borum gained experience as a finance manager at Boston Medical Center, a finance and accounting manager at Turner Broadcasting Philips Arena, a regional audit and financial reporting manager for the American Cancer Society, and a senior manager of financial reporting at Crawford & Company.
Ms. Borum prepared for her endeavors by earning an MBA in finance from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in 2017, a Master of Arts in accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, in 2011, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She also joined prominent professional organizations like The American Institute of CPAs and the National Society of Hispanic MBAs.
When Ms. Borum isn’t working, she enjoys helping out in her community. She currently serves on the board of directors of Positive Impact, and has supported the missions of Dining with Fairies and Abra-Cadabra. In March 2018, she will be speaking at the 2018 Hope Global Forum. She was honored by Leadership Georgia in 2017 for her efforts.
