Lori New has the rare, proven professional distinction of being an expert at helping people pursue good health as well as their dream home. Uniquely practicing parallel, dual careers, Ms. New, a licensed practical nurse (LPN), is a nurse reviewer with Evolent and a realtor with Main Key Realty. At Evolent, she is responsible for reviewing doctors’ notes and following health insurance company guidelines, and at Main Key Realty, she is a lifeline for buyers seeking the perfect property. Entrenched in the real estate industry, Ms. New is a member of the National Association of REALTORS and the Missouri Association of Realtors.
In previous career roles, Ms. New was a longtime clinical reviewer with Magellan Health starting in 2008 and leaving in 2023. She also has worked as an independent chocolatier for Dove Chocolate Discoveries, a real estate agent for Worth Clark Realty, and a founding curator of The Cocoa Exchange. Beforehand, upon completing the practical nursing and vocational nursing program at Jefferson College in 1998, Ms. New worked as an LPN providing one-on-one patient care at Saint Louis University until 2007. In addition, she was a massage therapist at Massage Envy, having earned the degree of an Associate in massage therapy from Missouri College.
Ms. New was initially encouraged to try real estate by her husband, who was her nurse colleague moonlighting in real estate. Enjoying the new venture, Ms. New’s transition into real estate from being a daily, practicing LPN was equally driven by her altruistic desire to continue assisting people in an expanded capacity. She cites that the disparity between the two fields has proven to be a fascinating learning experience every day as she still faces new scenarios. Eagerly committed to a mindset of continual growth and self-improvement through personal and professional development, Ms. New takes pride in imparting the value of ongoing learning to her colleagues, patients, prospective homebuyers, and children, recognizing that change is the sole constant in life. All these characteristics, she believes, have contributed to her success.
Pointing to the future, Ms. New hopes to advance her nursing and real estate careers through continued work and higher education. Further, she desires a more balanced schedule between her two professions so that she may assist a wider range of people in more varied situations. Moreover, Ms. New plans to purchase investment properties and renovate them for resale. Pressing forward as well with her cherished civic and community involvements, she is active with the Historical Society Tanglefoot Association, participates in numerous food drives and charity events, volunteers with her family plus serves on the board at a nonprofit horse ranch for teenage girls, and helps support Brandon’s Backpacks, a group that distributes backpacks filled with food year-round to 25 schools in her area for children facing financial difficulties.
Having grown up in Jefferson County in the eastern portion of Missouri with a love of animals and as a local church member, Ms. New is dedicated to her large family, who have remained the underlying motivation and inspiration behind her work ethic. Proudly, she has four daughters and eight grandchildren. Following in her footsteps in adjacent professions, both of Ms. New’s daughters and one granddaughter work in the medical field. One daughter works in the durable medical equipment sector in which patients receive the necessary equipment to address their health care needs. For example, she teaches patients how to use their CPAP machines. Ms. New’s other daughter works for a pharmacy, having started as a pharmacy technician and advancing into management. Representing the next generation, Ms. New’s granddaughter is working as a certified nursing assistant and plans to become a physical therapist.
