A proven and celebrated leader in providing information technology and cybersecurity worldwide for more than 15 years, Leah Freiman is the founder and chief executive officer of ItCon, Inc., accredited by the Better Business Bureau and the repeat recipient of many of the IT trade’s top accolades, a small sampling of which includes winning Cyber Defense Magazine’s Global Infosec Awards in the managed security service provider category, being named to the Computer Reseller News Magazine’s Managed Service Provider 500 list published by The Channel Co., and capturing the coveted KnowBe4 Sharky Award for Cybersecurity. Prior to being honored in Marquis Who’s Who of Professional Women, she has the distinction of being named to other Marquis publications, including the Who’s Who Top Professionals series and Who’s Who in the World. In addition, Ms. Freiman has been prominently featured in The Wall Street Journal and Forbes.
Attributing her success to honesty and listening to more experienced professionals, Ms. Freiman has gained the trust of countless clients. She is responsible for maintaining the confidence placed in her by overseeing the company, keeping her eyes on “the big picture,” while still ensuring that her nearly 20 employees are well taken care of and feel they have a future with the company and for themselves. She also bridges the gap between her company’s technicians and clients to streamline service and keep customers happy. During the next year, she plans to grow her business from $4 million in revenue to $5 million, and within a decade expects to keep building it exponentially to the point where it almost runs itself, she says.
ItCon, Inc., primarily provides IT and cybersecurity services to medical practices and systems yet has a diverse client portfolio, often becoming a business’ in-house IT department. Ms. Freiman recalls that cybercrime was non-existent in 2008 when she launched ItCon, Inc., but now it’s rampant and a significant part of the business. The company is also part of the InfraGard cybersecurity division of the FBI. Having a strong background in sales as well as information technology, Ms. Freiman feels uniquely qualified as her company’s leader and go-to person, always ready to share a fresh vision or perspective and spearhead projects to keep the firm moving forward. Within the industry, she has started coaching managed service providers through Technology Marketing Toolkit, an organization that provides complete plans, campaigns, and tips to help companies grow.
In the ongoing support of others in her field and various professions, Ms. Freiman is active in the local Chamber of Commerce because she considers it very important to interact and network with other highly successful people who may be willing to offer help and best business practices. She understands that it can be “lonely at the top,” thus, when distinguished professionals are approached, they are often happy to talk. For this reason, she encourages individuals who are novices or at mid-level in business never to hesitate to initiate a conversation with seasoned executives and higher-ups. A wealth of knowledge and experience, Ms. Freiman is always ready to offer salient advice, especially being female in a male-dominated industry. For example, she warns against blaming outside factors, people, or whatever may be missing for a lack of personal success and instead suggests focusing on everything that is positive and can be accomplished. A 2001 graduate of the Bais Rochel School in New York, Ms. Freiman grew up in a large family. Today, she is married with seven children and enjoys playing the piano in her spare time.
